Hullo all. Bryndel here; I linked here from the MLPTP... I actually am much more of a G1 collector (though every time I see those G3 pegasi, I'm tempted, I'm tempted...) but thought it'd be fun to meet other pony peoples nearby no matter what gen. ; 0-) My herd's still relatively small, although it somehow seems to keep mysteriously growing every time I pass Ebay. (I see I'm a Jester in rank. Seems very appropriate, heh heh.)
I don't see any mods right here, hmmmm... Does that mean we can go hogwild? <.< >.> : 0-P

Welcome Bryndel . . . where in Colorado are you located? I'm in Colorado Springs.
I was once a G1 collector . . . but then the bright and shiny G3's sucked me in and now I've got a growing collection of them. (I'm actually a recovering Ebay addict . . . and I should probably go to Target rehab soon.)
As for a mod, no we don't have one. I'm not sure if we have enough activity here to need one. At least not yet . . . .

Well we'll just have to drag more people in, then, won't we? ; 0-)
I'm usually in Fort Collins, since I go to Colorado State U, but my immediate family's down in the Springs so I'm oft there on vacations. Especially 'round Christmastime. ^^ I'm a developing Ebay addict... the fact that Target doesn't carry the G1s only makes me buy more online... X 0-) I'm hoping to become a trade addict instead, though, lol, and not spend quite as much money. 'Tis hard though, since my collection has few ponies to spare. I'm also hoping to get into customizing.
Those bright and shiny G3 pegasi are evil temptresses to whose wiles I refuse to succumb! Gasp! ; 0-P For some reason the proportions that bother me on the earthlings and 'corns look okay on them. Go figure.

Yes . . . yes we will have to drag more pony lovers in here . . . Very interesting that you go to CSU . . . . my uncle Dave recently did a veterinary lecture up there November 27-28. He's such a cool guy . . but then again, he is my favorite uncle. Since your family is here, were you raised here? I'm as native to Colorado Springs as you can get . . . . my parents have lived here since 1979 and I lived in the same house my entire life until I moved out 3 years ago.

Hehe...hmm, I may see him lecture sometime then; I'll probably be going to vet school at CSU next year ; 0-P
I'm...er...more native to Colorado Springs than I am to anywhere else, I guess, lol. The military assigned us there the most times and longest, you see X 0-) But I was actually born in Sunnyvale, California (and lived there for about two months before moving to CO, in late 1986...). Then I lived in the Springs 'til I was five, and then thrice more in various years, 'til now when my dad's finally about to retire and has stopped moving, lol. We built a house in Black Forest. Long and complex answer to a simple question, huh? : 0-J But that's military life for ya. I definitely like Colorado Springs & Black Forest better than Fort Collins, though; it still feels more like home than this city. And it has better weather. : 0-P

Welcome, bryndel. I'm a newly transplanted Springs gal from Cali. Slowly getting into the swing of things here.

So Fleera . . . what brought you to cold Colorado from sunny California?

Well, let's see . . . Affordable housing, actual seasons, and a sister (moved here in Feb. '05) and cousin (moved here in the mid-nineties) who are now less than 15 minutes away from me. That list is in order of reasoning, but put the cousin before the sister since sis drives me batty!!

lol...ah, those siblings X 0-D Yeah, I'm kind of glad my brother lives half a state away from me; he's hit that fun "idiot teenage boy" stage... : 0-P He's actually pretty well-behaved toward me when I visit, but I dunno how long that'd last if I lived there again!
"Actual seasons." *cackles* I was born in Cali, but I lived there, what, two, three months? X 0-) So I don't remember much. --Welcome to Colorado ; 0-D When did you move here? And what part of the Springs are both of you in? I'm north of the Springs proper in Black Forest (when I'm visiting down there). The place seems like it's getting so big--that fait "smog bar" a la Denver that you can see hovering by the mountains is worrying : 0-/ (I still like it better than Fort Collins, though, heh.)

I'm centrally located in town. I'm roughly a 5-minute drive from downtown, or what used to be downtown seeing as the Springs is huge now.
I've lived here all my life. I have pictures of places that no longer exist, pictures of fields that are now huge housing developments, pictures of this city before it exploded. I think we're pushing 750,000+ people here now and that will only increase with all the troops coming in over the next year.
And yes, we do have seasons. Granted they are off schedule a wee bit. However the weather here is nothing like it used to be. When I was growing up we actually had snow from mid October until mid February instead of January to May. (In 2003 it snowed on June 3.) I remember when it wouldn't get hotter than maybe 85 degrees during the summer . . now it's around 95+ degrees.
Wow . . . times have sure changed, haven't they?

Heh... yeah, every time we've moved back the city's crawled and sprawled further outward... The big stink in Black Forets of late is in how close the urban sprawl's coming (the city/new housing development butts right up against the edge of the Forest, kaiyeesh) and how the commissioners and whoever else are never from Black Forest, and thus screw the Forest people over by switching zoning requirements, abusing eminent domain, etc. ....they're talking about possibly making Black Forest its own little town in order to try and preserve it from the excesses of the Springs, heh : 0-P Don't know if that'll happen, or how well it'd really work... but I'd dread the day I come back and find no trees or wild spaces, the natural beauty that's the whole reason I love Colorado : 0-/ (Ironic, eh, how they name all the new developments "Antelope Springs" or "Wolf Creek" or other wildernessy things, huh? *snorts*) The smog scares me even more. I don't want to see the Springs turn into another Denver.
Seems like we're getting plenty of snow in CO this year, though. I've missed it, in a way... but this is looking to perhaps be a case of "be careful what you wish for" X 0-) Made the holidays interesting, especially since we had grandparents coming and I had to petsit the neighbors about a mile away...lol. I drove back up to Fort Collins and it's snowing up HERE too, and the plow's buried the sidewalk and driveway... couldn't even get the car in the garage for a while, heh. (Got the most beautiful icicles on the front awning, though.) Gotta get cracking on that shoveling! Now's about the time I wish I'd stolen dad's snow-blower, heh : 0-P But I'm determined to build a snow dog this year, and/or maybe a snow pony...lol. Been a while since we had snow that stuck around to play with. But it's nice to see the sun, too : 0-P
